SVT News Helsingborg accompanied the harbor's CEO and security manager into the southern part of the harbor.

Here are two berths, just intended to receive vessels where, for example, corona has begun to spread on board. There have been reports of such cases around the world, where no port wanted to receive.

But in Helsingborg and seven other places in Sweden you have no choice.

- It has been decided at government level that we, like seven other localities, should have that responsibility. It does not matter what we want to do - it is our duty to receive the ship, says Joakim Sandberg, Environment and Security Manager at the Port of Helsingborg.

"The last thing a ship wants on board"

The spread of covid-19 has increased significantly in the world and Sweden. Joakim Sandberg estimates that it is quite likely that they will receive a vessel where one or more persons have been infected.

Why do you think that?

- This community center we are experiencing now is the last thing a ship wants on board, of course. But the greater the spread in society, the more the risk of any ship being hit can be expected, he says.
