Return of the Danish students studying abroad:

"You are working hard, we are home!"

Jia Pan Tianjiao briefly stayed in the isolation ward of Beijing Ditan Hospital.

On April 3, I ended the 14-day quarantine period. It was also the first day since I returned to China that I ate noodles made by my mother. This is a small ceremony for my Beijing girl who has gone home for 5 years after studying abroad. When I wiped my mouth, I couldn't help but say, "It's great to go home." The idea of going home has been with me for almost a month. The time will come back to the end of February this year when Denmark confirmed the first new case of coronary artery pneumonia.

As an international student in Denmark, since late January, he has been closely following the domestic epidemic situation through news every day, and then compared with the development of the Danish epidemic situation, he began to worry about his health.

On March 2nd local time, the school I attended held an introduction conference on the new crown virus, but clearly stated: "Students should not wear masks." The school has only a dozen Chinese students abroad. At that time, other students' awareness of the new crown virus remained at Thinking that it is just ordinary flu has deepened my concerns about the possible spread of the virus in the learning environment.

I started to pay attention to protection, and consciously avoided going to places where people gather. On March 3, I walked to the school road and spoke in Chinese. When a non-Asian man approached me, he spit maliciously at me.

One week before the first case of new pneumonia was diagnosed in Denmark, the school organized many students to exchange visits to Italy. One of the students who returned to Denmark developed symptoms of fever, fatigue, and coughing, but seeking medical treatment was unsuccessful and still attending school. After learning about her situation, I asked my teacher for leave to start self-isolation in the dorm online class.

The number of confirmed diagnoses in Denmark is increasing day by day, and I am entangled, fearing that interrupting my studies and returning home early will affect my credit and graduation. But in the end, I decided to go back to China. On March 10th, I grabbed a direct flight from Copenhagen to Beijing on March 18.

The Danish epidemic spread rapidly, and all schools were closed on March 11. I also received an email from the school asking all international students to leave Denmark before March 19.

This epidemic is a challenge faced by the whole world. As a Chinese student returning to China will be the most memorable moment in the life of every student. Before I set off, I decided to record this moment with the camera.

At 8pm local time on March 18th, local time, I boarded Air China CA878 flight. At that time, Copenhagen Airport only left an emergency security channel for our flight. At the airport, I saw that only one convenience store was operating normally, and all other duty-free shops, restaurants, and cafes were closed. Without these precious video records, I would never believe that this would be the case at Copenhagen Airport, which used to have a huge flow of people.

From 12 noon on March 18th, local time, when I left the dormitory and set off for the airport, I felt the excitement of returning home, and I felt indescribable. Boarding the plane at 8 pm, I saw the flight attendants fully armed. They were the first staff I saw to pick me up. During the entire 9-hour flight, the staff took my temperature three times, without any abnormalities. When filling out the "Health Application Form", I truthfully reported the contact history between the school and the fever students. So, when the plane landed at noon on March 19th, Beijing time, I was named directly for isolation. I saw other people with suspected symptoms of new coronary pneumonia or close contact in the customs. There are also three independent negative pressure cabins in the isolation area, which can be used to isolate people with severe symptoms to ensure the health of other isolation personnel to the greatest extent. During my 12-hour stay at the airport, the staff distributed food three times and issued masks for everyone who did not wear N95 masks, and disinfected the ground almost every 10 minutes. With the voice of the staff reminding us to keep our distance again and again, I deeply felt the love and compatibility from my compatriots.

In the early morning of March 20th, Beijing time, I was taken to the Beijing Ditan Hospital for testing by an ambulance, including blood routine, nucleic acid testing and CT. Except for the crew and customs staff, the medical staff is the third wave to pick me up. The detection time took a full 4 and a half hours, mainly because there were many waiting personnel. I stayed in the ward of Ditan Hospital at 5:30 in the morning on March 20, and the test result was notified at 11:00 on the same day. Before preparing to transfer to the Jiuhua Mountain Convention and Exhibition Center to distribute the hotel, I found someone in the same group diagnosed. In the early morning of March 21st, I arrived at the Convention and Exhibition Center and waited for another 3 hours. I was transferred by the urban management staff of the household registration to Miyun Yunhu Resort, a designated isolation hotel in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It was already 6 o'clock in the morning to arrive at the hotel room. At this point, from leaving the school dormitory to Copenhagen Airport to Beijing, staying at the airport, transferring to the hospital for inspection, and finally staying in an isolation hotel, I ended the unforgettable "60-hour return home".

Miyun Yunhu Resort, where I am located, has a large number of receiving isolation personnel and is far from the center of Beijing. After taking a short break, I edited and uploaded a 24-minute video "International Students: 60-Hour Full Record of Returning to China" which was released on platforms including Bilibili and Weibo. 4.4 million page views. I even received a response from the flight crew of CA878 and a greeting from the staff at the isolation point of Yunhu Resort.

At Yunhu Resort Isolation Point, medical staff must be on call 24 hours a day to answer the phone calls of the isolation personnel. If you have fever symptoms, you need to arrange for the vehicle to be taken to the hospital immediately. What I recorded in my video is only a small part, and their hard work outside the video is something that I cannot understand in the room as an isolation person.

The crew, customs personnel, medical staff, police personnel, urban management personnel, hotel staff, etc., on the way back to China, it was precisely because of them that they allowed our compatriots overseas to return home safely. This gratitude, as a junior international student, I can only record with my camera and text. I hope that I can do my part to let more compatriots who have returned to China understand that behind our "road home" is the hard work of many of the motherland's staff, which is indispensable. Thanks to all the staff for letting me deeply appreciate the pride and pride of being a Chinese.

As an overseas student, I would like to say to you: "You are working hard, we are home!"
