The National Police have identified nine people who performed a parody of an Easter procession through a street in Mérida. Specifically, seven of them were dressed in various costumes (Nazarenes, costaleras and even Jesús de Nazaret carrying a singular cross) in a journey that lasted just over two minutes and barely ten meters, and included processional marches of music.

The scene, amid constant smiles and laughter, was recorded by two other people on their mobile phones from a very close distance. There is even a moment when the character of Jesus of Nazareth falls to the ground and is helped to drink by another young man who represents Simón de Cirene , terminating the performance .

All those involved have been denounced for disobeying the movement restriction measures imposed in the state of alarm. The images were disseminated on social networks, which helped the National Police first to locate the scene ( Montealto neighborhood ) and then to identify and locate the people involved, mostly young, to be proposed for their sanction by the Government Delegation of Extremadura .

In parallel, the Three Falls of Merida brotherhood, whose brotherhood outfits were worn by two Nazarenes, has criticized the use of the badges without any authorization and has announced that its Governing Board "will take appropriate measures" after what happened.

In this sense, the brotherhood has clarified that "what we deem appropriate, such as 'face covers', can be used, but only to put them on our balconies and windows to support the situation we are going through, and during Easter, but only and exclusively for that, and being used with the respect that both the habits and the hallmarks of our brotherhood deserve. "

As announced yesterday by the mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez Osuna , the Local Police has denounced during this period of the state of alarm some 300 residents who have breached the rules during these weeks.
