“Of course, this is a reasonable proposal. We understand that those students who do not stay now, but who have left home and are on distance learning, do not use water and utilities, and, accordingly, the fee should be reduced. As a rule, it is small, and students contribute it one year, six months in advance, in these cases it is quite reasonable to transfer it to the next academic year, ”Gumerova emphasized.

According to her, those students who, for one reason or another, remained in the dormitories, should be given assistance and support.

“I am sure that the leadership of universities and student self-government should carefully look at this category of those who stayed in the dormitories in order to support them in such everyday matters: in terms of purchasing food, preparing food,” the senator concluded.

Earlier, as reported by the Izvestia newspaper, citing the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the department sent a letter to the rectors of higher educational institutions with a proposal to reduce or cancel hostel fees amid the epidemic of coronavirus infection.

According to the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, it is advisable in this situation to reduce the rent and utilities for students.
