The survey was carried out on April 7 and shows that ten of the county's municipalities did not then have any cases of covid-19 found in elderly homes.

"No, we have no infected, but we have done tests on some caregivers," says Per Hilding, safety coordinator in Degerfors municipality.

Six caregivers were infected

Lindesberg Municipality has found covid-19 in a retirement home. According to Madde Gustavsson, head of social services administration, six carers and one staff have become infected.

In response to the question of deaths, she answers yes.

The spread of infection in Örebro municipality is greater.

Annika Roman, manager of the health and care administration, states that covid-19 was found at "under ten" elderly homes in the municipality.

- The infection is widespread in society and it also affects us, even though we do our best to prevent the spread of infection, she says in an email.

Do not comment on deaths

According to Roman, around 20 caregivers have become infected and just as many staff. However, she does not want to comment if they have any deaths due to covid-19.

- We work with risk groups and that means that those we work with are extra sensitive to the infection, but we leave the communication about the number of deaths in the county to the region, says Annika Roman.

According to the infection control doctor in Region Örebro county, most deaths are in the municipality of Örebro.

Several actions

The survey also shows that the municipalities in the county are now implementing several measures to prevent the corona virus from entering the homes of the elderly and that the infection is then spread further among caregivers.

Among other things, several municipalities state that they are setting up special departments for housing where infected patients can be moved and several are also starting special teams that will work with infected patients in, for example, home health care.
