April 08, 2020 Christine Lagarde renews his call for a strong budget response to coronavirus, asking governments to overcome differences.

In an editorial published in several European newspapers, and reported by the Bloomberg agency, the ECB president says: "If all the countries are not treated, the others will suffer. Solidarity is a personal interest". "It is vital that the budgetary response to the crisis be taken with sufficient force in all parts of the euro area."

"Troubling signs" are starting to appear on the euro area job market, Lagarde says. "If unemployment usually takes longer to rise in Europe and is less volatile, some early worrying signs emerge," Lagarde notes, noting that in the United States, requests for benefits have sprouted in the past two weeks.
