08 April 2020 The appeal of the three children of Marianna Manduca - the woman killed in 2002 by her husband who had unsuccessfully denounced 12 times - against the appeal ruling that denied them the right to 259 thousand euros in compensation was accepted by the Cassation the state's failure to protect their mother.

Now the case will be examined again by the Court of Appeal of Catanzaro appointed by the Cassation as the referring judge, following the annulment of the verdict issued by the Messina Court of Appeal on 19 March 2019.

With this verdict issued by the third civil section on "liability of the judges", the supreme judges accepted the appeal of Carmelo Cali ', the cousin of Marianna Manduca, who adopted the three orphaned children of the mother and who in their name it appeared before the Prime Minister who had obtained the revocation of the indemnity with a sentence that had sparked controversy and indignation. Marianna was killed by her husband Saverio Nolfo, sentenced to 21 years in prison at first instance.
