07 April 2020 According to the official data of the African Disease Control and Prevention Center, 10,075 cases have been confirmed in 52 of the 54 countries on the continent.

The total number of deaths is at 500, while that of healings has risen to 913, with another 65 patients who have been discharged from hospitals in different countries during the day.

The most affected countries are South Africa with 1,686 cases and 12 deaths, Algeria with 1,423 cases and 173 deaths, Egypt with 1,322 cases and 85 deaths and Morocco with 1,120 cases and 80 deaths.

All other countries have so far confirmed fewer than 1,000 cases; 650 Cameroon (9 deaths), 506 cases and 22 deaths in Tunisia, Burkina Faso 364 cases and 18 deaths, Ivory Coast 323 cases and three victims, Nigeria 238 cases and five deaths, Senegal with 226 cases and two killed and Kenya with 156 cases and six victims.

Chinese aid
In Accra, the capital of Ghana, Chinese aid has arrived to 18 countries: in addition to Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso , Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Benin, Cape Verde as well as Sao Tomé and Principe.

Aid came aboard a China Air cargo plane and includes protective gear, N95 masks, medical protective suits, protective goggles, gloves, thermometers and lung fans. Ghanaian Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey thanked the Chinese government on behalf of the 18 countries, claiming that supplies arrived at a time of great need for local health systems.
