"We are still in the worsening phase of the epidemic," said Veran who explained that containment measures will last as long as needed. Yesterday, France had its worst day, with 833 deaths in the 24 hours against 518 the day before. France has recorded 98,984 confirmed cases and 8,911 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, which puts it in fifth place for the number of infected and fourth for the number of deaths.

Germany recorded 3,834 other coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, updating the overall toll to 99,225 infected people. This was reported by the Reuters agency. There are 1,607 casualties in the country for Covid-19.

Over 50 thousand deaths in Europe

The BBC has published a ranking of countries capable of re-emerging faster from the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Among these (130 in all), Norway is in first place, followed by Denmark, Switzerland and Germany, while Italy is in 31st place.
