In order to protect the local populations, the camp - in fact an inn - located at the extreme north of the locality of Bamba, in the region of Gao was recently transformed into a military camp. This is the place that was attacked on Monday by " terrorists ", according to official terminology.

Terrorists, for some, jihadists for others, the armed attackers arrived, as often, on motorcycles and in vehicles. In houses located not far from the camp, residents heard numerous shots with heavy weapons. The streets remained deserted for a long time.

In addition to the losses suffered by the Malian army, in the ranks of the jihadists there were also victims. According to experts, the town of Bamba is strategic.

The presence of the Malian army there greatly disturbed the passage of various traffics as well as jihadists from west to east and vice versa. So they probably wanted to loosen the vise. However, maybe not for long.

In the afternoon of Monday, a reinforcement of the Malian army was expected at the scene while, according to an army press release, the Bamba camp is once again under the control of the regular forces.
