As France enters its fourth week of confinement, a digital displacement certificate can be downloaded, in PDF format, from this Monday on the website of the government and the Ministry of the Interior. Europe 1 explains how this new feature works, which does not change the authorized reasons for leaving.

No more printing a certificate or writing it yourself on plain paper. As of this Monday, the government is making available a digital certificate as part of the containment measures to fight the coronavirus epidemic. Available in PDF format on the websites of the government and the Ministry of the Interior, you can download and fill it in on your smartphone, in order to get around the rules. Europe 1 explains how it works.

Available on the website of the government and the Ministry of the Interior

To download the certificate, you must go to the government website or that of the Ministry of the Interior. You can carry out the procedure on your smartphone, which you will then present to the police. Several websites, including Netxinpact, had access to a beta version (a test version) posted on Saturday, and since deleted.

Concretely, you must fill in your personal information as on paper certificates, namely your name, first name, address, date of birth. Another clarification: it is possible to select several reasons for going out (to do your errands and assist a person, for example), this in order to group your trips in one go.

It is imperative to complete the exit time

As on the paper certificate, it is imperative to inform in advance the time of exit. Interior Minister Christophe Castaner has warned: it will not be possible to fill out a certificate once you are outside, under penalty of a fine. "You will have to specify your exit time, but the time at which you edited the document will be accessible to the police. This will prevent people from completing the certificate only when they see a police check," said the minister. .

A QR code to show to the police

Once the form is completed, a PDF file will be generated on your smartphone. You can either keep the page open or save the file directly to your phone to present it during the check. New: the PDF contains a QR code, this format which allows data to be transmitted with a single image. The police will be able to directly scan this QR code, with their smartphone, to see all the information you have entered.

"There will be no file. No one will be able to collect user data," said Christophe Castaner.
