So far, at least 337,000 people have been found infected with the virus and over 9,600 people have died in the United States. This translates to 2.94 deaths per 100,000 population, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University in the United States. In Sweden, the figure is 3.94 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants according to the same source.
In number of deaths, the United States is the third worst-hit country in the world, after Italy and Spain.
