This week, you are going for a ride in Dordogne, the country of 1001 castles, known in particular for its Lascaux cave, which can be visited from its living room. But this department also hides strawberries that we can taste for a few days.

It is in Dordogne that we are leaving today for a new virtual walk, always from our sofa and our kitchen. Vanessa, we start with you with a dive in the Lascaux Cave.

Well wedged at the bottom of our sofa, our tablet in our hands, we leave to discover this Sistine chapel of prehistory, which has been closed to the public since 1963. But it has been reconstructed in 3D, and this immersion gives us real thrills. So for that, you have to go to the site archeologie.culture.fr, type Grotte de Lascaux, and there you click on virtual visit.

Then, you have nothing more to do, you are embarked in the depths of the Earth, and you go from cavity to cavity, you slip, you even have the feeling of being on all fours like the men of Croc- magnon as you cross the feline diverticulum. The space was restored with an incredible strength and talent, even the grain of the walls, the texture of the paintings, the hollow of the engravings. You no longer know where to head, between the bull room, the frieze of swimming deer, the panel of Chinese horses.

It is a complete success. And if you want to go further in the discovery of Lascaux and parietal art with your children, take a look at the website of the Ministry: eduscol.education.fr

Lascaux is located in the beautiful Vézère Valley, in which there is also, I believe, the Font de Gaume cave.

Exactly, which is the last cavity with polychrome paintings to be still open to the public. It houses more than 200 performances. And you can also visit it virtually on the site: font-de-gaume.monuments-nationaux.fr.

But the Dordogne, of course, is not just caves, Bernard, it is full of spectacular places: country houses, villages of character, gardens and castles, that's why it is called the land of 1001 castles. And the department has just made available on www.dordogne.fr, in record time, an interactive map with photos modeled in 3D. It lists 26 places, including the castle of Hautefort or Biron, the abbey of Cadouin, the gardens of Milandes, and then also villages like my favorite: that of Roque Gageac.

Classified "most beautiful villages of France", it is leaned against the cliff and its feet bathe in the river of the Dordogne. And with this 3D modeling, it is so precise that you even see the cobblestones of the alleys and the tiles of the roofs. In short, you enter the photo and move as much as you want.

Marion Sauveur, what is the specialty of Périgord that can be enjoyed in confinement?

Strawberries, strawberries from Périgord! This is a protected geographical indication, and the good news is that they are necessarily grown in the open ground. They therefore keep the specificity of the terroir.

You have been finding strawberries since mid-March. The season started with a fortnight in advance. Périgord strawberries are delivered everywhere in France. If you are lucky enough to be able to buy them, at the moment you will find different varieties: gariguettes, darselect, cléry, donna rouge or candiss. The "cléry" are the sweetest. And the "donna rouge" and the "candiss" will have a more subtle taste.

Is there no risk of eating fruit, like strawberries right now, with coronavirus?

All security measures are taken during pickup. The trays are filmed so that there is as little contact as possible afterwards during transport and in the store. But it is especially necessary that at home, you wash your strawberries well with clear water.

And how do we taste these strawberries?

To change plain strawberries, I give you three easy-to-make recipes:

  • For sweet beaks: strawberry soup.

There is no simpler. You mix your strawberries and add a dash of grenadine (= sugar). We mix everything. And we serve in verrines, with a mint leaf.

  • Strawberry tart.

Make a shortbread dough. Put it in the oven, until it is golden. During this time, you take white cheese, you add a little sugar and vanilla. Once your dough has cooled, you distribute the cottage cheese and add the strawberries.

  • If you want to impress your family: individual millefeuilles.

Cut the sheets of bricks and brush with butter before placing them in the oven (beware it bakes very quickly) to brown them.

Mix an egg yolk with sugar (sparkling mixture). Add mascarpone and a few drops of orange blossom or bitter almond.

Make two floors. Between each level add a mixture of mascapone and strawberries. And eat quickly!
