• Interview from the balcony. Isabel Bonig: "The collection of errors by Ximo Puig and Pedro Sánchez is being remarkable"
What do you think of the management of the Consell in the pandemic? Identical to that of the Government. The problem was undervalued and everything was late. They put their ideology and calendar before the health of Valencians. With a constitutional government this would have been very different. There are many things that will have to be reformulated in the future: a virus and 17 different helplines; lack of solidarity between territories; an incapable minister who assumes powers without being prepared; a Ministry that, because it has been emptied, is not capable of centralizing purchases ... But above all, the absolute neglect of those who are saving us: the health personnel. Is it in favor of returning health powers to the central government? No. I am in favor of exercising what you have, you should be able to coordinate and you have not done it, buy -and it has been worse than ineffective-, not empty it any more and I am not in favor of placing a philosopher to take healthcare just because it is part of the PSC . Puig meets with you every week, but do you listen to your proposals? I feel absolutely overwhelmed and defensive. They want total adherence without criticism that I am not going to give them. We have every right in the world to tell them what they are doing wrong and to propose alternatives and proposals based on institutional loyalty and that is what we are doing. Of course, I must admit that the President has open communication with me and responds to all our requests. Unfortunately, I do not think that we will succeed, as we have asked from Ciudadanos, to resume work in the Cortes electronically and to change the budget to allocate 3,000 million euros to fight this crisis. The Consell must be restructured to reduce superfluous ministries and end unnecessary spending. What do you think of the management of the Government of Pedro Sánchez? At the last plenary session of the Cortes I already affirmed that the management of the crisis was amoral, that the Government put its ideological agenda above the health of the Spanish. It is a government that knew of the seriousness of the matter and did not want to suspend the mass events, including the 8M demonstration. It is also dramatic that its partners take advantage of this situation to give rallies bypassing quarantine. We have the worst possible government at the worst time. Citizens, with Inés Arrimadas at the forefront, will continue to propose solutions. Are the autonomies doing better? It depends on which autonomies. There is a general complaint: the centralization of the problem and its solutions in a team that was not sufficiently prepared. This has cost us reaction time. The autonomies had to redirect the issue and begin to go it alone, mainly to establish protection solutions for health professionals and to prepare the facilities against a possible collapse. I am proud of how my colleagues from Cs Juan Marín, Ignacio Aguado, Begoña Villacís, Paco Igea, Isabel Franco ... are giving the callus. They are a sign that more focused governments give better answers. What alternatives does Citizens propose? For starters, the self-employed should not have been charged. Now they say that in April they will also have to pay the fee. If they don't let you work, they can't tax you. It is a shame. Our proposal is clear: save lives and save jobs. More equipment and more protection must be guaranteed for health personnel. We must reconvert our industry to put it at the service of the production of protective material and carry out generalized tests. We are facing a very serious health emergency, but a great economic crisis is also looming and we have to be up to it so that the paralysis of the country does not mean the destruction of the economy. Puig has already brought two planes from China with material, while Madrid is having a lot of difficulties, what is it for? Puig has been fortunate to have some contacts who are helping, who knew how to bring and where the material came from. Do you think they acted late in any of the measures adopted to contain the virus? Should 'mascletaes' have been banned? How many did you go? With the data that the central government, the autonomous community or the city council of Valencia had, there should not have been mass meetings. Neither the 8-M, nor mascletaes, nor paellas for older people. There was a meeting where someone recommended, in view of the reports, to suspend all those meetings, but someone replied: 'For a couple of days more, nothing happens, these protests are very important to us.' It was a great irresponsibility not to protect the citizens. Regarding the mascletaes , I only saw two from a balcony. Has public health been weakened in times of crisis? Whose fault is it? Did health and all social policies weaken during the crisis? Yes. And that happened under PP and PSOE governments. This reality blow will make us rethink many things, and among them, public spending. Cs was born precisely to denounce the inequalities between territories, the useless spending on duplicities or beach bars, corruption, the plugged in, etc. What is your opinion of the tragedy experienced in nursing homes? What responsibility does Vice President Oltra have? The elderly, along with health personnel, are the most affected by this crisis. And here we have had to put up with a whole vice president blaming the PP when she has been ruling for 5 years now. It is a dramatic situation: many are dying alone, unable to say goodbye, and others are neglected in their homes. How will politics change after this crisis? And citizens? It is clear that this crisis will change us all. I hope that, when the health tragedy passes, we sit down and can analyze and assess what has been done well and what has been done wrong. Questions such as territorial inequalities or where public money is spent must be reconsidered. This crisis, in addition, has shown that we Spaniards are in solidarity and I believe that we will emerge stronger and more united.

TO WHOM DOES THE APPLAUSE FROM THE BALCONY DEDICATE?

"To all those who work during these days to help those of us who stay at home, but especially the health personnel. In addition to the daily applause, we have proposed a recognition to professionals with a productivity boost and a decalogue of support measures for health "
