Many believe that the management of the corona pandemic involves a shift. Perhaps the measures taken now will characterize our way of life and our future. Isolation is a common word in government and media, and physical (rather than social) distance is perhaps a new global culture. But one thing is certain. When the spring sun looks forward to a time of both haystack and physical distance, the outdoor gym is a matter of course for many ore dwellers.

"I don't think too much isolation is good for mental or physical health," says Bo Andersson, who works out on Saturday.

Some gyms in Malmö have closed to reduce the spread of Covid-19. But there are also gyms that are still open. Despite this, people are crowded at Pildammsparken's outdoor gym during the weekend. For some exercise equipment there is a queue. There is loud music being played and the atmosphere of the outdoor gym is top notch.

A combination of Covid-19 worry and spring sun joy

The fact that people's way of thinking is characterized by the fact that there is a general risk in everyday life is clear when SVT's reporters talk to people in the outdoor gym.

"There is less risk outdoors, so we choose to work out," says Tuba Turgut, smiling while training outdoors with his friend Josefin Engdahl.

The fact that endorphins are released in the body when you move and that long-awaited sun makes a happy one is old. So people have respect for the pandemic and its risks, but people also need to be happy. Despite being densely populated in the outdoor space, and despite moving on very common surfaces, it still feels safe to be outdoors according to Per Viktor Jäder.

- It feels like there is a higher risk of being in a gym. And being in a gym, yes, you get your exercise, but at the same time getting this fresh air, the sun, it gives so much more, he says.
