Police investigating cruise ship disembarkation before inspection results are revealed April 8, 8:50 am

On a cruise ship arriving at a port in Australia last month and confirmed that a number of disembarking passengers and others were infected with the new coronavirus, police said that passengers had to be inspected before the results of testing for sick people were released. A criminal investigation was begun with a criminal case suspecting that there was a problem with the response of the ship or the authorities since everyone was disembarking.

At issue is the Ruby Princess operated by the same company as the Diamond Princess, a cruise ship that has been confirmed to be infected.

The ship arrived at a port in Sydney, Australia on March 19, and was screened for sick people for a new coronavirus, but returned from New Zealand, where infection was low. As a result, it was judged that the risk of infection was low, and approximately 2,700 passengers were all disembarked before the results were obtained.

However, a number of people became ill afterwards, and according to local media, more than 600 passengers and crew members have been infected so far, and at least 10 people have died.

In response, local police said on Monday that they had begun a criminal investigation into alleged problems with the ship's and authorities' actions.

Police will listen to passengers and crew, as well as officials, to find out more about the situation on board the ship and how passengers were allowed to disembark.
