Calejas fought leukemia for two years.
The current president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez, expressed his condolences on the death of Calejas.
“We are very sorry for the death of former President Rafael Leonardo Callejas,” he wrote on his Twitter.
Rafael Callejas was President of Honduras from 1990 to 1994.
In 2015, he was detained in the United States on charges of involvement in the FIFA corruption scandal.
