The Belgian Football Federation (URBSFA) has announced that a "constructive" solution is about to be found with UEFA regarding the premature end of the Belgian championship, it announced in a statement on Saturday.

The president of URBSFA, Mehdi Bayat, who spoke with that of UEFA Aleksander Ceferin, however did not specify the nature of this negotiated solution "together", simply indicating that the Belgian Federation will present to the Executive Committee of UEFA its "recommendations to stop the championship".

The European Union of football had estimated Friday "premature" and "not justified" any decision of a national league to definitively interrupt its domestic championship vis-a-vis the crisis related to the epidemic of coronavirus, a choice made by Belgium.

In the aftermath, UEFA had threatened to ban European competitions next season from all championship teams not going to their end.

This threat came after the decision of the board of directors of the Pro League which had issued Thursday a unanimous opinion addressed to its general assembly not to resume the championship of Belgian D1 2019-2020 ", declaring in fact FC Bruges champion of Belgium.

This GA should ratify this decision on April 15. Before that date, the Pro League board's proposal will therefore be presented to the UEFA executive committee, with supporting arguments.

The Belgian Federation, which will present its "recommendations to stop the championship" has the objective of "preserving European tickets from Belgium for the 2020-2021 season. URBSFA would also like to once again express its support for vis-à-vis the approach of UEFA which is to get out of this corona crisis in a united way ", indicates the press release.
