Today, New York State Governor Andrew Como announced a decision to use his authority to confiscate respirators from hospitals and companies that do not use them, to supply the most draining medical sector, in light of the escalating crisis of the state's Corona virus.

State Governor Como indicated that the National Guard would collect the devices from those destinations.

The governor’s decision came against the backdrop of the pandemic that struck the United States, and still leaves more victims.

Medical personnel in the United States and Europe suffer from a persistent acute shortage of tools, medicines, protective equipment, and respirators.

The state of New York, the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic in the United States, recorded 630 deaths in one day, in the worst toll in 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths within the state to 3565.

Governor Andrew Como said at a press conference, "We have not yet reached the height of the epidemic, but we are approaching it," noting that the rise was rapid, especially in Long Island.
