Within the framework of the UAE’s keenness to intensify its international cooperation and enhance joint efforts between countries to confront the spread of the new Coronavirus virus epidemic COVID 19, today, April 4, 2020, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates and the Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain Northern Ireland regarding transit flights for British nationals during the suspension of passenger flights.

The memorandum was signed by the UAE Undersecretary Khaled Abdullah Belhoul, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and on the British side by Patrick Moody, the UK's ambassador to the country.

The Memorandum of Understanding states that the two countries are ready to facilitate the movement of their nationals during the period of suspension of flights for passengers, and to provide a comprehensive framework between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom to facilitate the operation of transit flights for British citizens who will be evacuated.

The Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to facilitating the evacuation of British nationals to their homeland, by allowing flights that will take them to transit through the Emirates airports en route to the United Kingdom, and providing the necessary services and facilities to them, while maintaining the application of precautionary and preventive measures and measures that prevent from spreading Corona virus emerging in the country.

The signing of the memo is a confirmation of the established bilateral relations between the two countries and the continuous cooperation in all fields, and the commitment of the two parties to implement all appropriate measures to limit the spread of the global epidemic.
