Eight Iraqi armed factions, who call themselves Islamic resistance, have threatened that they will attack American forces in Iraq, after refusing to withdraw from the country. It also demanded that the President of the Republic withdraw the candidacy of Adnan Al-Zarfi to head the government, considering the latter an American option.

In a joint statement, these factions, which are (Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, the Al-Najaba Movement, the Brigades of the Master of the Martyrs, the Faithful Movement, the Imam Soldiers ’Movement, the Imam Ali Brigades, Saraya Ashura, and Surya al-Khursani) said that after the United States refused to withdraw its forces, it proved that they were occupation forces and not Only the language of force is respected.

The eight factions indicated that the House of Representatives and the government had called for months for the exit of US forces, and this was reinforced by the outbreak of popular demonstrations to emphasize the demand to remove foreign forces from the country.

In the statement, the factions called on the political forces to announce their rejectionist position regarding the passage of the appointment of Prime Minister-designate Adnan al-Zorfi, and described it as a candidate for American intelligence. And it called on the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to name another candidate.

It also called on the parliament to thwart the passing of Al-Zarfi, and warned that its pass endangers the civil peace in Iraq. Al-Zarfi had presented his government’s program to the House of Representatives in preparation for a session to vote on the new government.

The Al-Zrafi government program included 16 items, the most prominent of which was holding elections one year after granting confidence to the government, working to fulfill the demands of the demonstrators, and supporting the judiciary to fight corruption and pursue the corrupt. In foreign policy, Al-Zarfi pledged to distance Iraq from regional conflicts.

In previous statements, Al-Zarfi rejected his accusation by some Iraqi forces that he was close to the United States, and made pledges that included holding the protesters' killers accountable.

Base of progress
This development comes after the international coalition forces handed over the base of progress in Habbaniyah, Anbar Governorate, to Iraqi forces today.

In a statement issued by him, this alliance clarified that the move comes within a previous agreement with the Iraqi government, and that this action has nothing to do with recent attacks against coalition bases.

The international coalition confirmed its continuation in Iraq to provide advice in military operations against (ISIS) ISIS.

The Habbaniyah base is the fourth base from which the coalition forces have withdrawn, after their bases in Nineveh, Kirkuk (north of the country), and Qaim (west).
