04 April 2020The Postal and Communications Police Department of Naples, as part of the monitoring of web spaces aimed at identifying those responsible for illegal actions related to the Covid-19 emergency, has discovered a site called "Testcovid19.it" through the which advertised the sale of kits for detecting "Coronavirus" infection, digital thermometers, FFP2 and KN95 masks, as well as surgical masks.

The sale represented speculative fraudulent actions as all the material was of poor quality and lacked the validation of the National Health Authority, as well as lacking the CE certification and the required traceability and reliability requirements. The site, registered by a Neapolitan citizen last March, offered the sale of personal protective equipment at competitive prices, purchased in turn from a Chinese online supplier. The search made it possible to seize a large quantity of sanitary material, including 5000 boxes, bearing the words "Covid-19 rapid test" and 560 "KN95" type masks, bearing a counterfeit "CE" mark.

The operation conducted by the Naples compartment is part of the activities coordinated centrally by the Postal and Communications Police Service, aimed at combating fraudulent sales, and to identify illegal fundraisers for hospitals.

The test for the diagnosis of Covid-19 - reminds the police - must necessarily be performed by specialized operators who report to the prevention department of the local health authority. In case of positivity to the new coronavirus, the diagnosis must be confirmed by the national reference laboratory of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. There are no commercial kits for the diagnosis of the infection.
