The epicenter recorded at 09:18 Moscow time on Saturday, the earthquake had coordinates 54.83 degrees north latitude and 166.35 degrees east longitude.

The earthquake occurred about 1.5 km from the southern coast of Bering Island.

Bering Island is part of the Aleutian region of the Kamchatka Territory, on it is the village of Nikolskoye, in which about 750 people live.

In June 2019, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck the Commander Islands.
