23 February 2017 A famous black and white photo, taken by Ted Spiegel during the election campaign of 1960: it is the image chosen by the United States for the postage stamp, just issued, which celebrates 100 years since the birth of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the president assassinated in 1963.

The photographic image shows Kennedy - who was only 43 years old - looking upwards, symbolizing confident America in the future. The stamp, which has permanent validity (it bears the word 'forever'), is printed on the sheets of 12 copies. Kennedy - Democratic Party candidate and then 35th American President - was killed in Dallas on November 22, 1963.
