Present in Africa as part of Operation Barkhane, four officers of the French army have tested positive for coronavirus according to the General Staff. They are the first French soldiers outside France to be officially affected by the epidemic.

Deployed in the Sahel as part of the fight against the jihadists, where 5,100 soldiers are engaged, these four officers who arrived in the Sahelo-Saharan strip several weeks ago, are "at this stage asymptomatic", explains the Army.

Death of civilian employee

A 62-year-old civilian employee in the defense infrastructure department died on March 30. It is the first death in the ranks of the French Army according to the French ministry.
