- We get emails from relatives who say "The staff had no protective equipment when they visited my mother, do they really have the protective equipment they need?", Says Ann-Britt Mårtensson, medically responsible nurse in Torsås municipality.

The municipality's elderly care follows the guidelines that Region Kalmar and the authorities have set, she says, which means that it is only when a resident shows symptoms of infection or is found ill in covid-19 that one uses protective equipment such as mouth protection and visor.

But the questions are many and concerns are high among relatives since the news came of the third death in covid-19 at the same accommodation.

Found at random check

The Kalmar region found the infection in the housing in Torsås municipality after doing a spot check. But since it was not possible to find the source of the virus entering the housing, it has been concluded that there is a social spread of corona in the municipality.

- Accommodation is not an isolated phenomenon. This is a disease that has up to 14 days of incubation time, and we have residents who move in and move in and out of hospitals, and 14 days ago we did not have a strict visitation ban but only restrictions for relatives, says Ann-Britt Mårtensson.
