One of them was a case of fraudulent assistance to the medical staff of Hubei. The court held that the defendant Wang Moumou was "subjectively malignant" and sentenced him to eight months in prison for fraud and a fine of RMB 6,000.

The case revealed that the victim Xu was a nurse at a hospital in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. After receiving the task of helping the Hubei Province, in order to alleviate the pressure of the local shortage of epidemic prevention supplies, she was preparing to buy a batch of medical masks and bring them to Hubei. The defendant Wang Moumou released false information on the sale of medical masks, forehead guns (infrared thermometers) and other epidemic prevention materials in the WeChat group. Xu Moumou contacted Wang Moumou to purchase 1500 masks and two forehead guns, and informed Wang that he was a medical staff and was about to help Hubei. The masks and forehead guns he bought were ready to be taken to Hubei for epidemic prevention. Wang Moumou deceived Xu Moumou 5800 yuan in total, fabricated various reasons to delay the delivery, and did not refund, Xu Moumou reported the case.

According to the Supreme Law, Wang Moumou was still defrauding his money because he knew that Xu Moumou was about to reach out to the medical staff in Hubei to buy protective equipment in order to alleviate the pressure on the local protective materials. Therefore, he should be punished severely according to law.

Cases released on the same day included cases of illegal operation by a Shanghai Industry and Trade Co., Ltd. and Xie Moumou, a case of a large pharmacy in Beijing and Zheng Moumou selling counterfeit registered trademarks, etc., focusing on criminal cases involving epidemic prevention materials during the epidemic, including Illegal business operations, sales of fake and shoddy products, sales of counterfeit registered trademarks, scams, fraud and other crimes.

"Based on the overall situation of epidemic prevention and control, the people's courts have given full play to their criminal trial functions and severely punished these criminals in accordance with the law with a view to giving particular effect."
