- Now we see that it is starting to increase. We are 2-3 weeks behind Stockholm, says Leif Ehlin, physician and healthcare leader in the special health care management that was set up at Örnsköldsvik's hospital on the occasion of the Coronavirus.

In Örnsköldsvik, just as in Sundsvall, an initial assessment is now made of emergency patients outside the hospital. In Sollefteå you have a similar solution.

"It's about separating non-infectious from infectious," says Joakim Meidell, a doctor who staffed the tent in Örnsköldsvik on Thursday.

Full on transit department

A transit department has been created where patients suspected of having a covid infection are being cared for while waiting for a trial response and a care unit for patients with covid-19 is now ready at Örnsköldsvik Hospital.

- In the transit department, we can receive 10 - 11 patients in their own rooms. But that has not been enough because we have a fairly large influx of other infections as well. We are now opening a department to where we fill up with covid patients, ”says Leif Ehlin.

Closes receptions

The hospitals are relocating staff to be able to staff the new departments and this means that the reception centers will close.

Based on the current situation, Leif Ehlin wants to emphasize the importance of reducing the spread of infection.

- It is extremely important that you follow the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Authority because now we have a spread here in Örnsköldsvik, says Leif Ehlin.
