Today, Jordanian authorities arrested a groom in a district of the capital, in violation of preventive instructions to prevent the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

In a statement, Interior Minister Salameh Hammad said, "The groom and his family violated the (emergency) defense law, which led to their arrest and detention in a correction and rehabilitation center, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures against them."

"The bridegroom (whose name has not been released) violated a pledge that it undertook after it was cleared of the obligatory stone, on Monday," the statement said.

"There will be no tolerance for anyone who violates the defense law, and the most severe legal measures will be taken against anyone who violates the law," he added.

Various local media and social media reported that the groom's family celebrated with singing and dancing in one of the regions of the capital, Amman.

It is noteworthy that Jordan activated the "defense" law, and imposed an open curfew for more than 10 days, to contain the outbreak of the new Corona virus. The authorities also closed the capital, Amman, and the rest of the kingdom's governorates, in front of the movement to enter and exit from it, and completely isolated the city of Irbid.

To date, Jordan has recorded 268 cases of coronavirus, including 26 recoveries and five deaths.
