Austria will become the first non-border country of France where patients will be transferred. Three patients hospitalized in intensive care in the Grand Est region will be treated in Salzburg.

Austria, a country of 8.8 million people, crossed the threshold of 10,000 confirmed cases of new coronavirus on Tuesday that led to the death of 128 people, but still has beds in intensive care.

Since mid-March, the French army has participated on several occasions in the transfer of patients from Grand Est, one of the French regions most affected by Covid-19, to other territories in France as well as in Germany , in Switzerland and Luxembourg.
