• Coronavirus in Spain, last minute

What was the company that mediated in the purchase of the failed tests that the Ministry of Health acquired from the Chinese manufacturer Bioeasy? Why is the Government not disclosing that information? Or rather, why does it hide the name of the intermediary, if it is "a regular supplier" of the Ministry?

The 640,000 useless tests purchased by the Government (of which 59,000 arrived, which were returned) only had a reliability of 30%, when the laboratory tests exceed 80%. The scandal escalated with force when EL MUNDO published that the Executive had handed them over to the Community of Madrid without having even verified them before.

In addition, Health has once again trusted the same company that gave it the faulty evidence, so that it now replaces it with hours. One company, Bioeasy, which is not even officially licensed to sell drugs, as revealed by the Chinese Embassy.

Hence, the PP has registered in the Lower House a "request for data, reports or documents" on the tests for rapid detection of the coronavirus that the Ministry of Health bought from the Chinese company Shenzhen Bioeasy, which were unsuccessful.

In the document, to which this newspaper has accessed, the Popular Parliamentary Group claims to Health and Finance the "list of meetings held with the provider of the aforementioned tests", as well as "day, time and list of attendees of any meeting held with the supplier of the orders and also after their return for not fulfilling the necessary conditions. "

The claim is produced based on Article 7 of the Congress Regulations. Said article specifies that "the deputies, with prior knowledge of the respective Parliamentary Group, shall have the power to collect from the Public Administrations the data, reports or documents that are in their possession."

And "the requested Administration must provide the requested documentation or state to the President of Congress, within a period not exceeding 30 days and for its most convenient transfer to the applicant, the reasons based on Law that prevent it." That is, either legally justify why it does not provide this information - which the Government keeps with seven keys - or it must declassify all the data.

"Why hasn't the broker been penalized?"

The PP petition is signed by the popular deputies Miguel Ángel Castellón , José Ignacio Echániz and Cuca Gamarra . It assures that "last Thursday, at the appearance of Minister Salvador Illa , we asked him for maximum transparency and an investigation, but since we have had no information and there is absolute opacity, we have requested all the information on this file."

"We do not understand why the government does not give the name of the company, we understand that something is hidden," he adds. "We challenge Illa to give information on this company tomorrow at the appearance in Congress, on why a sanction file has not been initiated to the intermediary and why the Chinese manufacturer continues to be trusted," adds Gamarra.
