Dubai Municipality withdrew 6 types of hand sanitizers that proved not to conform to the specifications, against the backdrop of an intensive inspection campaign to verify the safety of antimicrobial products, including hand sanitizers circulating in the local market, where (102) samples of different sizes were removed from the products circulated in the local market for the purpose of conformity And laboratory analysis, after testing showed that six samples did not match due to the presence of methanol, which is a colorless liquid used as a solvent and a pungent odor, and it is a high degree of toxicity and a risk to human health as it affects the nervous system and causes dizziness, headache, irritation to the skin and respiratory system, and causing Blindness in severe poisoning cases, those mismatched operations of the products were immediately withdrawn from the domestic market and banned from circulation.

Coordination is underway with the local and federal health and governmental agencies in order to permanently ban the trading of the operations of these products from all state markets, and the municipality emphasized the continued implementation of these campaigns periodically to ensure the circulation of identical and safe products.

It is worth noting that the Dubai Municipality evaluates and records all antiseptic products, "disinfectants", including hand sanitizers, in a productive system, after verifying their conformity with the approved specifications, their effectiveness, and the ability to use them for disinfection, whether for personal or household use or for institutions.
