As of yesterday, the United Nations confirmed in Geneva that nine of its staff had contracted the emerging virus "Covid 19".
In a statement issued by its headquarters, the organization clarified that the injuries included two cases at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development "UNCTAD", two cases in the United Nations Environment Program, one case between the staff of the independent investigation mechanism on Myanmar, one case in the Office of Internal Oversight Services, one case in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and two cases at the headquarters of the organization in Geneva .
The statement emphasized that the precautionary measures were taken according to each case in addition to the appropriate medical follow-up and following the protocols agreed with the host country of the headquarters, Switzerland, .. pointing out that the organization works closely with the Swiss government and the World Health Organization with regard to prevention and preparedness issues related to combating the virus.
