On Monday, SVT Nyheter Blekinge was able to report on how the new and reduced requirements for protective equipment have caused great concern at the hospital.

After the coronary outbreak, existing protective equipment is also starting to run out - something that has led to alternative solutions.

An example is a disposable protective visor - where the holder is manufactured by Blekinge University of Technology in a 3D printer - which is supplemented with plastic film for overhead devices. But employees believe that the alternative solutions may not have undergone sufficient testing to be considered safe.

- When I saw it, I thought, "What's this really?" There are staff who order their own mouthguards instead, says a healthcare employee.

"Requires protection"

According to several employees with whom SVT News Blekinge spoke, the uncertainty is great as the recommendations regarding protective equipment are constantly changing.

- I do not require any answers, because we do not know how the virus changes. But I demand protection, that we have adequate protection instead of risking being infected, says one employee.

According to Joakim Kristensson, strategic purchasing manager for the Blekinge region, there is currently no shortage of protection visor. But he says that the disposable visor is used in some businesses - and that in consultation with the National Board of Health, they are approved to use.

- They are approved by the infectious disease doctor as an alternative to those that have been on the market before, he says.
