How is the atmosphere in Barcelona?

- It's very desolate. The multimillion-city city of Barcelona, which I myself have been to many times where there are always people's lives with restaurants and cafes, is closed down. It is desolate and eerie, it is a quarantine in a way that it is not in Sweden. We can move around the city because we are journalists, but we have been stopped several times. They have roadblocks for cars and no one who does not have to go in to get to the important job can enter.

What do the residents think about the quarantine?

- I have talked to people here and there is a great understanding that one must have strict measures. You have to save as many lives as possible. At the same time, people wonder what you can do more than what is already done, you want to test more ways. But then everyone understands that this will be devastating for the economy.

How is the attitude towards the country's politicians and authorities?

- Many people are critical of politicians and authorities and think they have acted poorly. Above all, many people think that they acted too slowly in the beginning and many believe that the crisis has to do with how the system looks. It is believed that they have not had a sufficiently good organization and been poorly prepared for a crisis. Many people talk about the lack of protective equipment and point out that so many in the healthcare sector have become infected.

What do the people you have met and who work in health say?

- They seem to be struggling as best they can. They are very open with it being bad, very bad. But you have no choice but to work and do your utmost. Spain has had too few employees in the healthcare sector and now it is trying to attract people who have worked in the healthcare sector before. It is hoped that 50,000 will line up and come and work in the healthcare sector because of this.
