- You didn't take it very seriously before, but now it's more serious, says Layla Ahmed.

For a couple of months she has been one of six resident guides in SDN Västra Hisingen. In Somali, she now disseminates information about the new corona virus to her compatriots in Biskopsgården and tells how best to protect herself.

- If you see that people die, then you become more worried and afraid, says Leyla Ahmed.

Spreads information via phone and apps

Through telephone calls and by putting up posters, she informs about the risks and how best to protect themselves. But also through e-mails, sms and various apps.

Difficulties in acquiring information are said to be a reason why people in the suburbs have not taken the spread of infection seriously before, politicians believe. The congestion in some residential areas also makes it difficult to follow the recommendations on keeping hygiene and reducing the spread of infection. This is considered by local politicians with whom SVT has spoken.

But Leyla Ahmed disagrees.

- We wash and take care of ourselves. But in other countries, people are not allowed to go to work or school, but you get it here. That is why you have not taken it so seriously before, believes Leyla Ahmed.

The local mosque remains open

Behind us people drop in to the local mosque to participate in the afternoon prayer.

- Before they had closed here, I do not know when they opened ... but the problem is that you can go to school and to work, so they think "then we can go to the mosque too". That's why they don't take it seriously, ”explains Leyla Ahmed.

- But I can spread more information, so we'll see how it goes, she adds.
