The objective of reopening schools on May 4 is a "no more, no less" scenario, which remains "compatible" with the evolution of the coronavirus epidemic, said on Monday March 30, French Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, who reaffirmed that the terms of the baccalaureate would be known at the end of the week.

All schools in France have been closed since March 16 as part of the fight against the pandemic. Jean-Michel Blanquer had indicated last week that depending on the evolution of the epidemic, classes could resume on May 4, at the end of the spring break.

"It's a scenario, no more, no less, it's a possibility, it depends on the evolution of the epidemic", he stressed on Europe 1 on Monday, recognizing that this resumption of prices could take place "later".

"I hope that we will be able to return on May 4, I continue to hope so, it is still compatible with what has been said by the health authorities, but we will see during the month of "April depending on what the health authorities say," continued the minister. "For such a thing to happen, the peak of the epidemic would have to be behind us at that time."

Towards continuous monitoring for the bac?

Regarding the progress of the baccalaureate, Jean-Michel Blanquer reaffirmed that there would "necessarily" be a dose of continuous monitoring, the question being to know "where we put the cursor".

Discussions are underway with representative organizations of teachers, parents and high school students with the aim of reaching consensus, he said.

In this reflection, the Minister says he is guided by three points: that there is a baccalaureate this year; that his level be guaranteed; that we can have a real month of June in terms of courses.

"It is true that if we pass all or part of the continuous assessment, we will save time, so weeks of class, which will not be negligible," he said. "I will give the formula we will arrive at the end of this week."

As for the summer holidays, they will be maintained, said the minister, adding however that he would set up "educational summer camps" and free tutoring modules especially for the most disadvantaged students who would suffer the most. suspension of lessons.
