According to Piteå municipality, the first confirmed case is in Piteå municipality's special housing.

- We have taken measures according to guidance from the National Board of Health and the Region Norrbotten's infection prevention physician. The department is isolated and relatives affected are contacted, says Magdalena Jonsson, head of department special housing, social services, Piteå municipality.

Decision on a ban on visits

- Until Saturday we had no confirmed spread of infection in our operations. Our measures continue to be based on the fact that we are far ahead of the "people's vote" that our Prime Minister urges us all to apply. But a ban is now moving closer as we have an increasingly widespread spread of infection in society and in the risk group of the elderly. Probably a ban will come this week already, says Fredrik Sjömark social manager in Piteå municipality.

The social services are currently working on digital solutions for both medical appointments and for communication with relatives to ensure that any ban will be as sustainable as possible over time.
