For the first time since the health crisis broke out, Catalonia surpasses Madrid as the autonomous community with the most patients with coronavirus admitted to the ICU.
According to data made public this Monday by the Ministry of Health, in Catalonia there are 1,512 infected by Covid-19 receiving health care in Intensive Care Units, by 1,460 in Madrid , which continues to be the region with the most infected -24,090- and deceased -3,392-, just ahead of Catalonia, where 16,157 people have been infected and 1,410 died .
Yesterday, the Minister of Health of the Generalitat denied that the Catalan ICUs were on the verge of collapse. " We are not at the limit , which is not easy," said Alba Vergés, who numbered 1,722 the ICUs that the Catalan health system currently has. 84% are occupied by patients with Covid-19 .
