South Korean military says North Korea tests two projectiles

Xinhua News Agency, Seoul, March 29 (Reporter Geng Xuepeng, Lu Rui) The South Korean military said on the 29th that North Korea test-fired two launchers in the direction of the eastern waters of the peninsula that day. South Korea speculated that the launcher was a short-range ballistic missile.

The South Korean Joint Staff Headquarters released news that North Korea test fired the projectile from Wonsan, Gangwon-do at 6.10 am (5:10 pm Beijing time) that day. The launcher flies about 230 kilometers and has a maximum flight height of about 30 kilometers, presumably a short-range ballistic missile.

The South Korean Joint Staff Headquarters stated that South Korean and US intelligence agencies are analyzing the parameters of the North Korean launchers. The South Korean military closely monitors the DPRK for other launch-related activities and maintains a vigilant posture.

The South Korean military detected North Korean launch activities on the 2nd, 9th and 21st of this month.

According to the Korean Central News Agency, North Korea ’s top leader Kim Jong-un twice guided the Korean People ’s Army ’s frontline long-range artillery units in fire strike training and observed tactical guided weapon demonstrations on the 21st.

The North Korean News Agency quoted Kim Jong-un as saying that North Korea ’s recent development of new weapon systems and tactical and strategic weapon systems under development will play a significant role in achieving major changes in North Korea ’s defense strategy.
