According to the agency, the largest number of marriages in Moscow was dissolved in large departments of the registry office located in districts. These included Lublin, Chertanovsky, Babushkinsky, Perovsky and Izmailovsky departments.

The administration added that Muscovites can terminate the marriage in any department of the registry office, except for Zamoskvoretsky and archival information. Also, divorces do not register marriage palaces.

“Civil registry offices can be dissolved only in certain cases: if the spouses do not have joint minor children and they both agree to a divorce, if one of the spouses goes missing, if one of the spouses is declared legally incompetent, or if the spouse has been sentenced to more than three years,” - explained in the press service of the metropolitan registry office.

In other cases, marriage must be terminated through the court, specified there.

In Moscow, according to the Federal State Statistics Service, 42.5 thousand marriages were dissolved last year.

Earlier, RT based on Rosstat data compiled a rating of Russian regions by the ratio of the number of registered marriages to the population in 2019.

The largest number of marriages per 1,000 people in 2019 was concluded in St. Petersburg. The lowest rates were noted in Ingushetia, the Leningrad region, Dagestan and North Ossetia.
