A spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the isolation of several cities and villages in ten governorates to prevent the spread of the Corona virus, which has so far caused dozens of deaths and hundreds of infections.

The spokesman, Khaled Mujahid, said in televised remarks published by Al-Shorouk newspaper, that the isolation of these cities and villages comes within the framework of precautionary measures, without mentioning the areas covered by this decision.

He added that the city or village is being isolated for a period of 14 days if a number of consecutive infections with the Corona virus appear, explaining that isolation prevents the matter from becoming a community infection.

About two weeks ago, the Egyptian Minister of Health announced that 300 families in the village of Dakahlia governorate, north of Cairo, had been quarantined for fear of corona infection, due to contact with some of their family members afflicted with the disease.

Yesterday, the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the registration of six new deaths, bringing the total deaths to 36 cases. Among the victims of the epidemic in Egypt are two senior officers in the Egyptian army.

It reported 40 new injuries, bringing the total to 576, while 121 patients were recovering.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Public Prosecution warned against publishing what it described as false news about the Corona virus, and said that the penalty for this is up to five years in prison.

Before announcing the first confirmed cases of Corona virus in the country, the Egyptian authorities faced accusations of hiding the real numbers, while Western media reports spoke of the presence of thousands of cases of corona in Egypt, which the authorities strongly denied.
