Like all people over the age of 70, Kerstin Björkström has been discouraged from staying where there are a lot of people, and an increased risk of being infected by the corona virus. But the isolation has led to problems for Kerstin, who can't get any help with food.

- You tell us not to go shopping if you are 70 plus, and I am a plus, you can say, says Kerstin.

"Well die of starvation"

At home in the semi-detached house, Kerstin Björkström has a stock of frozen goods and preserves, which she estimates will last for one to two weeks. She does not know what she intends to do when the food runs out.

- Then I'll die starvation, something to die of. It's less painful than corona, I think, she says.

Kerstin does not have a home service and says her neighbors can't help. Her son also belongs to a risk group and therefore cannot trade for her.

Instead, without results, she has turned to Partille Municipality in the hope of getting help with the food document.

- They could ask if they could go and shop for example, that's what you need most.

Partille takes the help of volunteers

Some municipalities, such as Örebro, have decided that all municipal residents over the age of 70 should be helped to buy food. Partille Municipality has chosen a different route, and chooses to focus on coordinating voluntary efforts.

- Since we have some absence due to illness in our business right now, we need to focus on our core mission, and then we gladly take the help of the volunteer forces who have said they want to join and help, says Ingrid Claesson, Head of Communications Partille municipality.

How should people like Kerstin go to get help?

- We are looking at how to get in touch with the volunteers who want to help, and we will tell you where we know the elderly are.

The municipality should now try to disseminate the information in various forums.

- We will also make sure that there is someone in the municipality who can answer these specific questions, but even now you can call our customer center, says Ingrid Claesson.
