It has not given our millionaires, like the wealthiest Russians, to set up a private clinic at home by buying respirators and hiring private healthcare personnel to protect themselves against the coronavirus. At least that we know of. Fortunately, the top ten most wealthy characters in Spain have set their sights following the example of Amancio Ortega and make millionaire donations or help with their companies in whatever way they can.

It should be noted that many of these donations have not transpired so that it does not appear to be a starter of grabbing attention and advertising . Really, whether it is altruism or a desire to improve one's personal brand, we do not care. The fact is that these aids serve something and arrive in time to stop the pandemic.

For example, the businessman Juan Abelló is operating through his equity company, Torreal. It has donated money in cash to the Community and Madrid City Council, first, and from its participating companies it has made other initiatives: it has offered the facilities of its GoFit gyms to the administration and through Telepizza delivers free daily menus to 11,600 students with limited capital resources. Also in this chain of restaurants there is a free daily delivery of 4,000 pizzas to hospitals, security forces, soup kitchens throughout Spain.

On the other hand, LOC has found out that Alicia Koplowitz and her oldest son, Alberto Cortina, have taken out their checkbook and have been very generous. Almost as much as Sandra Ortega, older daughter of Amancio Ortega, who has personally donated one million masks and 5,000 protective suits.

The government is receiving countless aids, not only from the great fortunes of Spain. Although the largest ones come from the Ibex, as is normal. Ana Patricia Botín has given four million to buy respirators and to enable 2,000 beds in the Ifema hospital. Also, the CEO of Banco Santander, has cut the salary in half to help create a fund of 25 million euros to combat the crisis. Marta Álvarez , meanwhile, president of El Corte Inglés (which does not escape from ERTE), has donated bedding for this hospital, like Ikea, although the Swedish chain allocates it to nursing homes.

Juan Roig joins them, in the front line of fire feeding much of the Spanish population through Mercadona. A week ago, he announced that he was going to give a premium of 20% on March gross wages to all his workers for the effort they are making in the pandemic. The foundation chaired by his wife, Hortensia Herrera, had already planned to donate 74 million to solidarity and social actions in 2020, but it will surely expand this budget.

We probably left out other millionaire personalities who have also contributed their grain of sand. The names are crowded: Isak Andik , owner of Mango (two million masks), Sergio Ramos and Pilar Rubio (through Unicef), Turki Al-Sheik , owner of Almería (who has donated 700,000 euros), Messi (who helps to Argentina and Barcelona), Guardiola (only to Barcelona) ...

What other players have done has been joining forces through their clubs and giving part of their heritage together; this is the case of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. The latter will make an ERTE, like so many companies, but Enrique Cerezo and his boys have made an "important donation" of money, Isabel Díaz Ayuso said on her Twitter profile.

Virtually no wealthy person can resist helping. Our most famous elite athletes worldwide could not miss: Pau Gasol and Rafa Nadal , who have lent their image to the Red Cross to lend a hand and, of course, have taken out the checkbook. Even Pe and Bardem.
