Tsekov stressed that Russia in a critical situation always takes "a very correct and correct position in terms of universal values."

“Therefore, of course, such a resolution should not only be welcomed - it is hoped that the world will come to its senses and support Russia. Because, as the current situation shows, the fight against coronavirus is a struggle of the entire world community, ”the senator added.

The parliamentarian expressed confidence that the "vast majority of countries" would support this resolution.

On March 26, Russia submitted to the UNGA the initiative to adopt a declaration of solidarity in the fight against coronavirus infection COVID-19.

The initiative, in particular, recognizes the leading role of WHO in combating the pandemic, the consent of states to collaborate with each other and with WHO, including to develop options for controlling the spread and treatment of COVID-19, to help the most affected states, especially developing countries, refuse from trade wars and the application of unilateral sanctions, which are adopted bypassing the UN Security Council.

The declaration also calls for preventing discrimination of countries, peoples and individuals in connection with the pandemic, countering financial speculation with essential goods, and recognizing the need to disseminate reliable and scientifically based information about the situation with the spread of coronavirus.
