New Zealand police announced that Brenton Tarrant, who last year committed a massacre of 51 people when he shot worshipers at two mosques in Christ Church, yesterday pleaded guilty to all charges against him, in a sudden change of his position.

And the police said that "the admission of guilt of 51 counts of murder and 40 counts of attempted murder, and of one count of a terrorist act, was made by video link from Auckland prison", where Tarrant, an Australian believer in the theory of white race superiority, is being held.

Tarrant initially denied all of these charges, but changed his confession during a video hearing.

In response to a question about the charges against him, Tarrant said from his prison in Auckland to address the judge "yes, guilty."

In confessing this, there is no longer a need for trial, as the task of the judge is now limited to determining the sentence.
