Coronavirus: Professor Raoult threatened with death for his comments on chloroquine
Text by: RFI Follow
The Marseille infectious disease specialist Didier Raoult who is testing a hydroxychloroquine-based treatment protocol in Covid-19 patients is said to have been the victim of death threats. It is Le Canard enchaîné which reveals the information. Threats received 5 days after a first media release revealing a Chinese study on the possible benefits of hydroxychloroquine.

Read moreA complaint was filed against X for "death threats and act of intimidation towards a public service representative".
Professor Raoult is pressurized twice. On March 1 at 10:30 p.m., he received an anonymous call. " Raoult, you're going to stop saying bullshit by tomorrow 2 p.m., otherwise you'll see ." Then the next morning by sms this time: " Less than 4 hours to retract on chloroquine ".
According to information published in the press, the investigation was transferred from Marseille to Nantes, because that is where the appeal was made. The mobile phone used would be part of a lot made available to doctors at the Nantes public hospital.
Investigators are now seeking to determine who is its user and they would suspect a practitioner likely author of an insulting email, the same evening on the same subject.
For the time being, Pr Raoult's services, in full management of this health crisis, do not wish to comment on the current procedure.
