Local media in Egypt reported on the 26th that a serious traffic accident occurred on the southern intercity ring road in the southern part of Giza at 1am on Thursday 26th local time. A towing trailer collided with eight private cars and minibuses near Helwan Gate, killing 18 people and injuring 12 others.

Immediately after the accident, the personnel of the transportation department rushed to the scene of the incident, cleared the wreckage on the scene, and cleared the traffic. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The Cairo General Administration of Transport is currently conducting an extensive traffic campaign throughout the capital. Traffic police and monitoring equipment are spread throughout Cairo to strengthen the supervision and punishment of various violations, thereby reducing the probability of traffic accidents.
