As expected for several weeks already, the Constitutional Council officially noted, Thursday, March 26, the failure of the referendum project on the privatization of the group Aéroports de Paris (ADP) which has not obtained in nine months the support of 10% of electors required to be validated.

"The number of supporters (...) to be collected was 4,717,396" but only "1,093,030" signatures were recorded and validated, said the Constitutional Council in a press release.

"The bill aiming at affirming the character of national public service of the operation of the aerodromes of Paris thus did not obtain the support of at least a tenth of the voters registered on the electoral lists", notes the institution which will publish this statement in the Official Journal.

The question of a possible privatization of ADP has in any case been postponed indefinitely by the government, given the market collapse and the difficulties of the airline sector linked to the coronavirus crisis.

The decision was well received by the opposition, which was at the origin of the referendum project, which bets on an outright burial of this controversial government project.
