The numbers of infections and deaths due to the emerging corona virus increased increasingly, and Spain surpassed China in terms of deaths, while the United Nations said "Covid-19 threatens all of humanity."

In total, Agence France-Presse counted twenty thousand and 334 deaths, most of them in Europe, with 13,581 deaths recorded. Italy remains (7503 deaths), the most affected country, followed by Spain (3434 deaths), and China (3281), the epicenter of the epidemic.

Quarantine
This comes at a time when more than three billion people in about seventy countries and regions are called upon to join their homes in anticipation of the spread of the "Covid-19" epidemic.

About forty countries imposed a mandatory stone covering 2.3 billion people. This is particularly so in India, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain and Argentina, and several states in America including California, along with Colombia, Nepal, Iraq, Madagascar, Panama and South Africa.

In most of these countries and regions, it is possible to leave the house to work, buy basic necessities or receive treatment.

At least seven countries (416 million people) - including Iran, Germany, Canada and Russia - have called on their residents to stay with their homes without taking mandatory measures.

And imposed 18 countries or regions (three hundred million people) curfew, and prohibited movement in the evening and during the night, and this applies to Egypt, Ivory Coast, Chile, Manila, Serbia and Ecuador.

Finally, five countries imposed - at least - a quarantine in their most prominent cities, with the entry or exit being prohibited, and this applies in cities in Saudi Arabia, Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. These regions include about thirty million people.

In the context, a spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced - in a press conference - the start of a curfew tomorrow, Thursday, in the Riyadh, Makkah and Madinah regions, from three in the afternoon until six in the morning the following day, in addition to preventing travel between the regions of the Kingdom.

In a related development, the US military leaders said that the rapid spread of the Corona virus forced its forces to restrict the movement of thousands of soldiers in the overseas regions, which are most vulnerable to the virus, such as Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Danger to humanity
For his part, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed Wednesday that "Covid-19 threatens all of humanity", during the launch of "a global humanitarian response plan" that will continue until next December, accompanied by a funding campaign for efforts to tackle the virus worth two billion dollars.

Guterres said that "all mankind must work towards the elimination of Covid-19," considering that efforts by countries individually to address it will not be sufficient.

The plan aims to combat the virus in “the poorest countries of the world, and to help the most vulnerable groups, women, children, the elderly, people with chronic diseases, and people with disabilities.”

Global actions
The speech of the Secretary-General of the United Nations comes at a time when several countries have taken measures to combat the spread of the virus.

In occupied Jerusalem, the heads of churches and Christian denominations announced on Wednesday the closure of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the city, to prevent the spread of the Corona virus. A statement indicated that the closing period is a week, which can be extended as needed.

Since the dawn of Monday, the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem has announced the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque completely in front of worshipers, in anticipation of the spread of the virus.

In Russia, President Vladimir Putin proposed various unconventional emergency social measures to support families and companies, which included a one-week vacation for workers, excluding companies operating in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as those that operate continuously, such as production plants in the mineral and chemical sectors.

In Turkey, Education Minister Dia Seljuq decided to extend school closures in the country until April 30, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.

For his part, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Wednesday that the G-7 countries are aware that China has practiced a "deliberate misinformation campaign" in connection with the emerging Corona virus.

"The Communist Party of China poses a major threat to our health and our way of life, and this is what the epidemic clearly demonstrated," Pompeo said at a news conference in Washington following an online meeting with his counterparts in Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Canada and Japan.

Increasing numbers

The number of deaths in Switzerland rose to 103 after 13 new deaths were recorded, and the number of injured was 9,965.

In Russia, the Russian Anti-Corona Virus Center announced the death of two elderly people in Moscow, raising the number of deaths from the virus in Russia to three.

In Turkey, Minister of Health Fakhruddin Kuja said that the number of coronavirus infections was 1872, the number of deaths 44, and the number of those who recovered 26.

In Britain, a spokesman for Crown Prince Charles, 71, announced that his test results were positive for Corona, and he suffers from "mild symptoms, but he is still in good health."

Later, the British Foreign Office said that Stephen Deak, 37, the deputy British ambassador to Hungary, had died of coronavirus infection.

Arabic numbers
On the Arab level, the number of corona virus deaths in Morocco rose to six cases, after a new death was recorded, while the number of infected persons reached 225 with 55 new infections recorded.

On Wednesday evening, Tunisia recorded the fifth death due to corona, and injuries rose to 173, after 59 new injuries were recorded.

The Egyptian authorities said that the number of deaths from the virus reached 21 after recording a new death on Wednesday. Saudi Arabia also announced the registration of a second death from the Corona virus.

And the medical authorities in Iraq announced that the number of deaths in Corona rose to 29, after two new deaths were registered, and confirmed the registration of thirty new injuries, bringing the number of injured to 346.

For its part, the Bahraini Ministry of Health announced a new death in the virus to a 78-year-old citizen, bringing the total to four cases, and the number of infections reached 377.

On Wednesday, the Algerian authorities announced two new deaths and 38 new cases in Corona, bringing the number of deaths to 21 and injuries to 302.

A spokesman for the Palestinian government also announced that it recorded the first death in Palestine with the Corona virus, while the death toll had increased to 64.

In Jordan, 19 new cases of corona were recorded, taking the total to 172.

In Qatar, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 11 new infections, which raised the number of injured to 573.

The Syrian regime announced the registration of three new infections with the Corona virus, bringing the number to five.
